Bush Fair Labour councillors fear a Nightmare on Elm Hatch

Politics / Mon 4th Nov 2024 at 07:51am

BUSH FAIR councillors have written a joint letter questioning what progress has been made on plans for housing in Elm Hatch.

It has come in the form of a joint letter.

Dear Editor,

Halloween may have come and gone but the Tory horror show at Elm Hatch in Bush Fair continues.

Some months ago, residents were assured in the latest of several presentations that work on the site of the old Hummingbird pub would begin in short order. As you can see from our recent photo, the site is as yet untroubled by shovels.

Indeed, the famous Elm Hatch cat must be being kept busy by the presence of rats in the area due to it being used as a dumping ground for various types of rubbish.

In Bush Fair under the last Labour administration, construction on John Dowdell Close was underway, 20mph speed limits were introduced in Westfield and Waterhouse Moor, a zebra crossing was established by the Poplar Kitten and the wheels were set in motion for the development at Oakview Walk. Yet Elm Hatch is a gaping mess under this Tory group.

The leader of the council may have fled Bush Fair for the 2024 Harlow Council elections, possibly assuming (correctly) that yet another resounding victory for Labour was on the cards, but he can’t outrun the ghosts of his many promises to the ward.

With so many sites waiting for development across our town currently in ruins, maybe his costume choices should switch from Bob the Builder to Barney Rubble?
