Athletics: Very busy weekend for Harlow Running and Tri-Club

HARLOW Running and Tri Club members were in action at various half and full marathons at the weekend.

Debden Airfield, Saffron Walden, hosted the Essex Marathon and Half Marathon.

In the Marathon race Martyn Coulter finished in 13th place out of 41 finishers in an excellent PB time of 3hrs 18min 41sec and David Goosetree was 35th in 4.47.59


In the Half Marathon Keith Streeter finished in 17th place out of 116 finishers and 2nd Vet 50 in a superb PB time of 1.30.00 and Colin Moody was 55th and 2nd Vet 70 in 1.46.03.

Meanwhile, at the Manchester Marathon, billed as the UKs 2nd largest marathon, Robert Foxley finished in 5446th place out of 13,866 finishers in 3.48.12 in his debut at the distance, Sandra Webber was 12,021st in 5.01.55 and Angela Cook 13,819th in 6.47.56.

At the London Landmarks Half Marathon, passing among others Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Shard and the London Eye, Jermaine Shand finished in 1215th place out of 11,565 finishers in 1.44.26 and Mick Gleeson was 7383rd in 2.21.01.

Michael Robey completed the High Lodge Spring Half Marathon, Thetford Forest, finishing in 129th place out of 171 finishers in 2.22.15.

Terri Wiley completed the Brutal 10k, a tough trail race at Bagshot, finishing in 6th place out of 87 finishers and 1st Female in a Female Course Record of 1.05.04.

There were parkrun PBs at Harlow for Lee Webber, finishing in 4th place out of 181 finishers in 19.20 and Luella Dixon, for the fifth consecutive week, in 119th place in 30.57.

At Victoria Dock parkrun Catherine Ridge finished in 11th place out of 116 finishers in a PB time of 19.55.
