Record breaking attendance at the Christmas Day Harlow parkrun
Athletics / Wed 25th Dec 2024 at 12:07pm

AN incredible 461 participants made it a record breaking morning at the Harlow parkrun.
The previous record was from February 2020, when 416 took part in the 5k challenge around the town park.
This was the 463rd running of the Harlow parkrun, which began in November 2014.
Last year, 332 took part but all those records were blown away at 9am on Christmas Day, 2024.
Not every area runs their parkrun on Christmas Day, therefore, there were runners from Ware (Westmill parkrun) and Bishop’s Stortford (Castle Park parkrun).

But there were also tourists from Hyde Park Harriers, Broxbourne AC, Met Police AC, Hove Hornets, Manchester Road Runners, to name just a few.
There was a fantastic atmosphere worth some going full pelt and some chatting to running colleague about their plans for the rest of the day.
Harlow MP Chris Vince was also in attendance. He also plans to take part in a Harlow Rugby Club Boxing Day fixture tomorrow.

It was a sea of red and white with everyone getting in festive mood.
A huge shout out to the organisers and volunteers who take (a lot of) time out from they busy lives to make sure the run takes place.

The next Harlow parkrun takes place on Saturday December 28th.
