ECCO, the Harlow-based environmental charity, has announced that their much-loved charity shop will soon be moving to a new, larger premises just a short walk from its current location late May.

The charity confirmed that the move comes after they were unfortunately unable to reach an agreement on a new lease for their current premises. While this means leaving a space that many customers have come to know well, ECCO says the move also presents an exciting opportunity for the future. ECCO will remain open as usual until the move and they hope for a seamless transition.

The new shop, will be larger and will allow the charity to build on the work it is already doing in the community. The exact location will be revealed soon.

For many local residents, the ECCO Harlow charity shop has become more than just a place to find affordable pre-loved items. It is also a hub that helps fund vital environmental work across Harlow — from sustainability initiatives to community engagement projects & projects that fight poverty.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the shop over the last 5 years,” said a spokesperson for ECCO. “Our customers & donors are the reason we’ve been able to make such a difference locally.”

“While we’re sad that we weren’t able to agree a new lease at our current premises, we’re also really excited about what comes next. Our new shop will give us more space and more opportunities to grow what we’re already doing.”

“But we’ll still need the continued support of our amazing community to make it a success. Every donation, purchase and customer visit helps fund our work here in Harlow.”

ECCO says customers will still be able to easily find the new shop, as it will only be a very short walk from the current location.

Further details about the new premises and opening date will be announced in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the charity encourages people to continue supporting the current shop through donations and shopping — all of which help fund ECCO’s vital work across the town.
