Hoop Dreams: Harlow primary school pupils enjoy Netball Festival

DESPITE a few hiccups with teams arriving late, at the wrong venue, with the incorrect number of teams and players, the children who attended the Years 3 and 4 Netball at Passmores had a great time. The weather was kind, and the children enjoyed an afternoon of friendly matches, where the focus was upon player development rather than scores.

A big thank you to all the school staff, who enabled the children to improve through on-court coaching and ‘balancing’ any uneven play by stepping in to help. Thanks also to Passmores staff for helping to ensure the courts had the correct equipment and to the Sports Leaders from Passmores, who umpired throughout the afternoon.
Teams involved were: Church Langley, Hare Street x 2, Harlowbury, Henry Moore x 2, Jerounds x 2, Kingsmoor x 2, Latton Green, Little Parndon x 2, Longwood, Pemberley x 2, Potter Street, Roydon, St Nicholas and The Downs.

And so, another Friday concludes with huge numbers of primary school children having represented their schools in a fantastic tournament. With so many teams booking on to take part, the decision was made to split the Years 5 and 6 Netball Festival over two events at Passmores Academy. As it was, with a number of withdrawals, we could have made one larger tournament, but that is sometimes how things pan out. Regardless, both events were well attended, and with increased participation time, all players made great progress throughout the morning sessions.

David Stacey and Luke Hammond gave thanks to the sports leaders from Passmores, who alongside Gill Pardoe umpired some very close and competitive matches.
The 20 teams taking part at Passmores were:
Church Langley x 2, Freshwaters x 2, Hare Street, Henry Moore x 2, Little Parndon x 2, Nazeing x 2, Roydon, St Nicholas, Tanys Dell, Abbotsweld, Cooks Spinney, Jerounds, Latton Green, Longwood and Newhall.
