Cricket: Close to perfect weekend for Harlow Town
Cricket / Sun 24th May 2026 at 09:42am
IT was a near-perfect weekend for Harlow Town CC across all three senior sides, with two emphatic victories on the field and a valuable maximum points return off it, as the Townies underlined their strength in depth across the Herts and Essex Border League pyramid.

The standout headline came from the 1st XI in Division Two, who produced a commanding all-round display to dismantle High Roding 3rd XI by 160 runs at Ash Tree Field. After posting an imposing 302 for 5 from their 40 overs, built around a blistering unbeaten century from George Richardson and strong support from Ben Tyne and Daniel Baldwin, Town’s attack then ripped through the visitors. Tom Wilcox and Taylor Wood shared eight wickets as High Roding were restricted to 142, leaving the Division Two promotion conversation very much alive for the Townies.
In Division Three, the 2nd XI delivered a similarly polished performance away at Hatfield Heath. A disciplined bowling effort, highlighted by a composed spell from 14-year-old Oliver Rowell, who continues to impress in his debut 2nd XI season, set up a comfortable nine-wicket chase. Joe Spiers anchored the reply with an unbeaten 46 as Town cruised home with overs to spare.
The 3rd XI were not required to take the field after opponents conceded, but still collected maximum points in Division Four, ensuring the weekend ledger remained faultless.
Across all levels, the picture is clear: batting depth, developing young talent, and a growing sense of control in key moments are driving a strong early-season platform for Harlow Town as the campaign gathers pace.
