Newhall Rangers 2 v 1 Harlow Corinthia FC

THE Gers upset the odds, as they beat @harlowcorinthiafc 2-1 to lift the League Cup, putting their name on the trophy amongst the likes of Marquis, Maiden and Rouge, which is a pretty elite club to be a part of.

Most of the town had already written Newhall off, but the message was quite clear as stated in the match programme. Newhall weren’t there to make up numbers and on their day they are able to match anyone!!

Newhall should have taken the lead early as a long ball over saw @stefankingg 1v1 with the keeper, but his powerful shot smacked against the crossbar, giving the Essex Champs their first warning shot.

Corinthia started to see more of the ball, yet struggled creating anything as Newhall made things difficult. Corinthia soon drew first blood though as a perfectly delivered corner was bundled over the line and given by the linesman. Newhall then saw chances, however a lovely gift from Newhall legend and the Corinthia keeper saw @jay.whitbread in on goal and sticking it into the net.

Fresh legs introduced in the second half and it wasn’t long until @mikelaronde made an impact, as he danced down the wing and picked out @jay.whitbread whom had slipped the defenders and tuck home his 2nd and give Newhall the lead, sending the crowd wild. Things got a bit feisty near the end with @lewwhitnall sent off for a 2nd yellow in the final 5 minutes & both dugouts seeing cards dished out. Backs against the wall and @mikelarondeblocking 1 off the line in the dying minutes, Newhall eventually became champs.

Superb effort from absolutely everyone and a proper team performance. Two cup finals and winners both times, we are definitely used to winning….
