Mental Health = Work Shy

Some people can suffer depressive illness and anxiety for a number of reasons, such as an overactive thyroid gland or through undiagnosed diabetes. Both conditions can make people prone to depression and anxiety. Likewise, people can suffer mental health issues through stress, isolation or childhood trauma. PTSD is a debilitating illness that makes attending work reliably difficult. The emotional turmoil it creates can strain work and family relationships. As I discovered, getting diagnosed and receiving treatment for PTSD is not easy. As many young people are discovering the NHS mental health service is in tatters and not being made any better by privatisation. One only has to look at the Lampard Inquiry to see the mess it is in. Funny how Chris Vince avoids mention of the Lampard Inquiry into the many deaths of patients due to failed care over a 24 year period. See Lampard Inquiry at https://lampardinquiry.org.uk/

For Jnewans benefit the following link explains the connection between childhood trauma and mental health issues: "Everyday challenges, such as taking an exam, moving to a new school or even making new friends can be stressful for anyone. However, for a child who has experienced abuse and neglect, they may find these situations even more difficult to manage. Scientists call this stress susceptibility." Article says Mind & Connect will "provide accessible wellbeing tools, guidance, and support services for the local community". However, the Mind Connect website says: "Mind & Connect is a community-led mental health and wellbeing initiative supporting the Muslim community in Harlow." I haven't got a problem with a Muslim focused counselling service, especially when ethnic minorities have poor health inequalities that aren't addressed, but why does the article fail to mention the facts and thus mislead the wider community? Surely not a case of protecting community cohesion? See https://www.mindandconnect.com/about.php
