HARLOW Town booked their place in the semi-final of the Herts and Essex Border League Shield with a disciplined 34-run victory over Matching Green on Wednesday evening.
Having won the toss, Town elected to bat first and posted a competitive 131 for 7 from their 20 overs on a surface that offered encouragement to the bowlers throughout.

The innings was built around an excellent 40 from Luke Luckin, whose fluent knock contained six boundaries and provided the impetus during the middle overs. Earlier, captain James Williamson set the tone with a brisk 29 from 25 deliveries, while Connor Teale contributed an aggressive 18 at the top of the order.
Although Matching Green’s bowlers applied pressure through Abdul Moiz, who claimed 3 for 13, Town continued to find useful contributions throughout the order. Marc Lowers’ unbeaten 16 from just 12 balls proved particularly valuable, helping the visitors finish strongly and push beyond the 130 mark.
Matching Green’s reply began positively through Asad Shah, who struck 36 from 29 balls, but Town’s bowlers steadily tightened their grip on the contest. Callum Fitzpatrick produced a decisive spell of 3 for 12, removing three key batsmen as wickets began to tumble.
Richard Lavelle matched those figures with an impressive 3 for 17, while Marc Lowers, Faizan Malik and Connor Teale all chipped in with wickets. Town’s fielding remained sharp throughout, with catches for Faizan Malik, Luke Luckin and Lowers helping to maintain the pressure.
With Matching Green restricted to 97 for 9 from their 20 overs, Harlow Town completed a deserved victory built on contributions across the side and a controlled bowling performance.
