SEVERAL Harlow Running Club members competed in the Essex 10K Road Championships held on a gently undulating course at Felsted on what was a very warm Sunday morning. In fact the conditions were so hot that there were no personal best times for the distance for any Harlow runner, which is not usually the case on this benign course.

FirstHarlow runner to finish was Steve Murtagh in 10th place out of 401 finishers and 2nd Vet 40, to win the Essex Championships silver medal in an excellent 34min 48sec. He was followed home by Jared Bethell (22nd) in 36min 45sec and Jamie Jephcott (64th) in 40min 17sec. John Tennant (109th) won the silver medal in the Vet 60 category in a time of 44min 15sec.
First Harlow lady was Dionne Jones (123rd) in a superb 45min 04sec. First wheelchair finisher was Dean Harvey in an excellent 37min 16sec.
