crictownWoodford Green 204 all out lost to Harlow Town 204-3 by 7 wickets.

Woodford Green won the toss on a glorious day and decided to have a bat on a very flat wicket.
Before the game started both sides held a minutes silence for Woodford Green’s Riaan Veldtman who tragically passed away of a heart attack aged just 34.

The top three for Woodford Green all made good starts (Saad Ijaz 25, Anthony Palmer 15 and Masood Qazi 36) before being dismissed and leaving Woodford on 87-4. Wickets continued to fall before Mathew Field (27) and David Hawkes (35) put on a 50 run partnership for the 7th wicket to help Woodford up to 181. The experienced Dan Calver was then brought back on to bowl and he cleaned up the tail ending with figures of 9.3-1-28-4. Shaun Alderson also bowled well with figures of 16-0-64-3. Town were set a target of 204.

Opening batsmen Shiraz Ali and Pat Yates got off to a brilliant start for the home side. The pair put on an opening stand of 95 before Yates was out LBW on 29. Shiraz reached his half century and was bowled on 60. Scott Alderson followed him next over for 15 and Town were 133-3 with thoughts of a repeat from the last two weeks batting performances starting to creep in. Charlie Coleman joined Ramya Upadhyay at the crease and the pair eased any tension and finished the game with a 74 run partnership. Charlie Coleman hitting a half century in just over 30 minutes to see Town to a win with 11 overs to spare. Coleman ended the innings on 54 with Ramya on 24.

Skipper Ashley Alderson: It was vital we got the win to get us back on track. Our batsmen showed good character after failing to chase lower totals over the last two weeks. Dan Calver and Shaun Alderson also bowled brilliantly for us. Calver especially bowled well at the end showing his experience to remove the lower order. We will be looking to push on from here when we host Benfleet on Saturday.
