Sometimes you just have to look around…

Sunday Comment
NOT sure if we are paraphrasing W.H Davies or was it Ferris Bueller? Either way, some days, you need to take a minute, look around and appreciate what you see.

Sunday October 6th was unseasonably warm. Clear blue skies on an autumn day. This reporter took his family (and the highly strung cavalier) to the park.

But we noticed on social media sites, a number of residents chronicling the lovely day.

Juxtaposed to that, a couple of days ago, as this reporter was jogging along the cycle track near Potters Street, we saw an elderly gentleman, black bag in hand, picking up rubbish. We are not going to go down the big society v big state argument, it was just an observation, that one gent is trying to make a difference to his town.

On Saturday, we recorded around seven interviews in ninety minutes: Rachel’s Law; David Lammy MP in Brockles Mead; Black History Month, Robert Halfon, Michael Jackson tribute act; Socialist Workers; Benjamin Eels, Water Gardens 10th anniversary celebrations.

As we drove back to the office, we saw a group of fifteen cyclists, aged between ten and fifty, near the duckpond. It was a lovely site.

So, before this reporter turns into James Stewart in “It’s a Wonderful Life”, we can only conclude that it depends on which Harlow you see or which Harlow is projected to you.
