ANOTHER Harlow company has been dealt a jobs blow as Raytheon have announced the loss of at least 50 jobs.
The company has announced that the jobs in manufacturing will be transferred to Glenrothes in Scotland later this year.
It has been a bad year for job losses in Harlow with Tesco, Pitney Bowes, GlaxoSmithKline reducing their presence in Harlow.
The writing had been on the wall for some time. Some employees have already moved away, some as far as Australia.
Harlow MP Robert Halfon said: “It’s tragic to see these redundancies, especially given the years of work that many of these employees have done.
“Raytheon is a good company, and I know they are looking to have new premises in Harlow. I’m hoping in the long term there may even be more jobs in the future.”
The company confirmed that they are committed to the town and will be looking at opportunities to expand in the future.
But one person went onto twitter to voice their concern. HHibbins said: “Shock? They have known for months”
