The New Beginning
Do you feel you’re finally beginning to see signs of new life? By now, maybe you’ve witnessed a bud of green, popping from a tree, or some bulbs finally forcing a flower between blades of grass. Spring has arrived and soon there will be a bursting of color! There is inspiration to be captured, everywhere.
Spring, a time of birth and new beginnings. As the earth warms up with the spring sun the rains fall and the trees blossom, we can reflect on our own cycles and seasons, our rebirths we all have seasons in our lives, we all have our winter summer autumn and spring, a time when we are full of energy a time when we hibernate, a time of harvest and rebirth.
The old has gone, the new has come
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Cor 5:17) Through Jesus death and resurrection we are now new creations. The word for new is kainos meaning unused, fresh and new in regard to form and quality. Whether you have been a Christian since your childhood or you have only recently become one, each one of us needed to become a new creation. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Cor 5:21) Because Jesus bore our sins on the cross and endured the penalty we deserved we are now righteous before God. We are now “fresh and new in regard to form and quality” before God. Of course we are still growing into our new identity but we can live today without shame, fear of death or guilt knowing we are completely accepted before God because of the cross and resurrection of Jesus.
So take the time to think about how we start over fresh, like the new year and bring a positive to the people around us and make a positive difference and contribution to our beloved community.
