St Clare Hospice has received a £1,000 grant from the Santandar Foundation after being nominated by a Hospice supporter as thanks for caring for her father.
The Hospice was put forward for the Community Plus cash award by St Clare supporter Tracy Begley who filled out a form at the Chelmer Village branch. Her dad was supported by the St Clare community team before he passed away in December last year, while her sister has been receiving bereavement counselling at the Hospice since his death.
Dunmow resident Tracy said: “I nominated St Clare in memory of my Dad. Because of the support we received from the Hospice, he was able to remain at home surrounded by his family. I knew that St Clare had recently launched its new Hospice at Home service to provide more nurses to care for those with a terminal illness in their own home and I felt that if the Hospice were to receive a grant from Santander, it would allow more patients and their families to able to receive the care and support that we had.”
Chelmer Village branch manager Joan Taylor said: “The Santandar Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting St Clare Hospice, and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
