Dusty MillerHARLOW MP, Robert Halfon, has been acknowledged by the British Beer and Pub Association for his support of the campaign to reduce the cost of beer duty. The BBPA award was presented by Chris and Michelle Cleary, the managers of the Dusty Miller, whose business and customers will benefit from Robert’s work.

Michelle Cleary said that she “was greatful for the support of her local MP and was looking forward to the ‘Thank you George Week’ that was being promoted by local brewers McMullens as a way of returning the duty reduction to customers.”

Tom McMullen, from McMullens confirmed that “the Brewery’s pubs would be dropping the price of draught products by 50p in its managed houses from the 18th to the 24th April in order to pass on the benefit of the tax cut to the consumers.” “I am sure that all our customers will join us in thanking Robert in helping to reduce the cost of beer duty” Tom continued.

Robert said “I am really honoured to receive the BBPA award having campaigned hard for a reduction in beer tax. I am glad that the Chancellor listened and, as McMullens are passing on the benefit, this duty cut will help great pubs like the Dusty Miller. I am keen supporter of the pub trade, and the employment it provides, and am very proud to stand along side Michelle and Chris who are among the many great publicans in the Harlow area.”
