A YOUNG mum of three is doing her bit to raise money for Macmillan as she begins her own battle against cancer.
Annie Cain, of Old Harlow, discovered a lump in her breast while watching a television programme urging women to check themselves regularly.
Tests in April found the lump to be cancerous and it was removed during an operation three weeks later.
The 39-year-old mum to Freya, 13, Freddie, eight, and Gethin, two, will begin a lengthy and intensive stint of chemotherapy next month before radiotherapy next year.
But, before her long journey begins, she is hosting a fundraising evening in support of the charity which is already proving a huge support to her family.
Macmillan Cancer Support has been encouraging supporters to hold a Night In to raise much-needed funds while having fun along the way.
Annie, who is engaged to partner Gareth Lewis, will welcome up to 40 friends into her home tonight (Friday) for her Night In, which includes pampering, food, stalls and a raffle.
She said: “Not knowing what’s around the corner is a little daunting. The unknown feels like a horror story waiting to happen, but it’s my horror story. One thing I am now sure of is I have so many loved ones around me and I feel lucky for that. I do think of those who have no one and that’s what makes me want to make a difference and why I am holding my Night In.
“The support I have had from everyone for my Night In has been amazing.”
Annie has begun writing a daily blog to share her thoughts and feelings with her loved ones. Read it at https://livingwithcandme.wordpress.com/
