A HARLOW family is celebrating after being reunited with their pet dog Caramel who was missing for 12 days.

Burglars broke into the home of the Richard and Tracy Taylor on Wednesday (June 3) and took a number of items including four-month-old Caramel, who belongs to their youngest daughter Lexie, eight.

But after their social media campaign ‘Find Caramel’ went viral, the beloved Chihuahua was returned.

Mrs Taylor told a newspaper: “Richard had a call from a lady who said ‘we think we’ve got your dog’ this afternoon, and Richard went to meet her and it was Caramel.

Caramel was found after a massive online campaign that had over 14 million views on Facebook and led the Taylor’s story to feature on Sky News, which was broadcast all around the world.

National retail chain Pets Corner gave a £1,000 reward for the safe return of the dog, but the lady said she did not want any money for the return.

Mrs Taylor, who fronted the Facebook campaign, said: “I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped us especially (canine re-uniting service) Dog Lost who were very supportive.”
