Athletics: Harlow shine at Southend Half-Marathon

SEVERAL Harlow Running Club members competed in the Southend Half
Marathon at the weekend. First home was Colin Moody in 294th place out
of 2053 finishers in a superb 1hr 40min 58sec. He was followed by
Robin Lozeau 674th in 1hr 52min 27sec, Debbie Smith 898th in 1hr 57min
27sec, Wendy Spring 1018th in 1hr 59min 51sec, Debbie Barry 1035th in
2hr 00min 20sec (debut), Darren Tilley 1080th in 2hrs 01min 19sec
(debut), Jane Evans 1085th in a personal best time for the
distance(PB) of 2hrs 01min 25sec, Paul Schroder 1249th in 2hrs 05min
09sec, Debbie Cooper 1577th in 2hrs 17min 42sec and Emily Clibbins
1648th in 2hrs 20m in 31sec (debut).

Meanwhile at the St Albans Half Marathon Sean Flynn finished in 275th
place out of 2480 finishers in an excellent 1hr 37min 52sec and John
Tennant was 455th in 1hr 41min 53sec, a new HRC Vet 65 record which
has stood since 1995.

At the Liverpool Rock’n’Roll Marathon Andy Kinney finished in 2201st
place out of 2479 finishers in 5hrs 08min 38sec.

At the Harlow Parkrun 5K HRC had 4 runners in the first 6 places out
of 95 finishers. Ben Chitiyo was victorious, winning the event for the
4th time in the last 5 weeks, in a superb 19min 23sec. He was followed
home by Steve Mackenzie 4th in 21min 22sec, Darren Tiley 5th in 21min
49sec (PB), Mark Hayward 6th in 22min 34sec, Paul Dixon 11th in 23min
22sec, Michelle Hughes 57th in 32min 01sec, Austin Nyaminde 63rd in
33min 40sec and Martyn Coulter 94th in 49min 40sec (PB).

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Jamie Jephcott finished in 5th place
out of 120 finishers in 19min 25sec. He was followed by Justin Patten
16th in 22min 44sec and Karen Moir 55th and 1st Lady Vet 50 in 27min
06sec (PB).

At the Wimpole Estate Parkrun 5K at Royston Martin McColgan finished
in 64th place out of 243 finishers in 24min 52sec.

At the Daventry Parkrun 5K Andy Kinney finished in 81st place out of
150 finishers in 28min 58sec.

At the Maidenhead Parkrun 5K Vicky Calver finished in 174th place out
of 218 finishers in 34min 28sec.

At the City of London Mile Mark Hayward finished in 334th place out of
over 1500 finishers in a personal best time for the distance of 5min

At the Le Canet-en-Roussillion 10K in the French Pyrenees Peter Mills
finished in 398th place out of 440 in 62min 22sec.
