Match Drawn

Town kicked off their season with a frustrating draw against Wescliff on sea on Saturday

Losing the toss Town were asked to bat first and got off to a flying start with openers Jason Gladwin & Jay Lowles both attacking the opening bowling from the start.

A flurry of boundaries brought up the 50 partnership off 10 overs and continued until Gladwin was caught & bowled for an entertaining 51 with the score on 98 from 19 overs

Ten runs later Lowles departed caught behind followed by Richardson, Simpson and the unlucky Baldwin who’s attempted pull flicked the top of his pad and rolled onto his glove to give the keeper a simple catch with Town on 150 for 5

The returning Ben Tyne, following a 4 year hiatus, grabbed the game as he smashed a blistering 49 from 24 balls which allowed skipper Ben Eversden to continue the scoring rate with an unbeaten 70

Town finishing on 265 for 6

In reply, Westcliff never really showed any interest in chasing Towns total despite an early declaration.

Skipper Eversden set some very attacking fields to try and tempt the Westcliff batsmen and keep them interested but the flat pitch and the defensive batting meant town had to settle for a draw

Wickets were shared by Richardson, Mazarura, Ali, Eversden, Baldwin and Paul Morrell with 2 for 27

Town face Woodford Green this Saturday
