YES, it is incredibly important to have a job, so you can pay the bills, buy necessary items, and most importantly to enjoy yourself. Many people have a job for the sake of for a long term period, and I say no to this.

Why sit at a desk filing and writing reports, when you enjoy working outside with other people and getting involved. A job should not just be for the sake of money, but in many case it is, a job should a highlight of your day, not something you want to forget by the end of the day. We all have our ups and downs at work, but that should not put us off a job that brings you happiness and joy.

A job should be something you enjoy, something you look forward to, it should not be a chore. Working in life should not be everything but should be an important part if it, amongst socialising, learning and doing things you like.

Finding a balance between work and personal life is not like reaching balance on a scale with equal weights. It is not about working less. It is about spending your time in a way that brings satisfaction.

The best way to maintain a good work life is to;

Choose the correct line of work. Your profile of work holds the most important spotlight when it comes to maintaining the balance. If the work that you do is what you love, making that balance is a way easier job. Choose to do what interests you, triggers you intellectually and where at the end of the day you come back and say “Though it was exhausting, I made it through the day and am satisfied at the end of the day”. Every work comes with its set of difficulties, deadlines and usual confusion. If you love what you do even all these negativity will seem positive aspects of the bigger picture.

Look at life beyond professional achievements. You strive for professional success where you dedicate yourself to the job and at the end of the year your list of achievements gives you a promotion or a hike. Have a list of personal goals and keep striving to achieve them. Personal competency with respect to your family and personal enhancement is as important as professional competency. Keep your loved ones as happy as you try to keep your boss.

Leave the rat race. You never came on this Earth to be a rat anyways! There is a very thin line of difference between passion and greed. The passion to learn more and be the best is different from working like dogs to get the next promotion or a raise. If there is passion and fire in what you do, your family will also respect. If it is greed of money, power and position you will loose them somewhere down the race and the rat will be left alone soon. So be passionate but not greedy.

As many of us have learned, you can have more personal time but spend it in ways that aren’t fulfilling. If you’re coming home from work just to pick up where you left off, it’s time to draw a line in the sand. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

It will take some planning and discipline, but if work/life balance is your resolution, you really can accomplish it in the new year. Also to enjoy your job and not make it a chore to make some pocket money. Look ahead your got your whole life to make money, the time now is to relax, socialise, learn and to be around with friends and family.
