Health Oct

WORLD Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the objective of raising awareness of mental health issues and mobilizing efforts in support of better mental health. This is something very dear to the heart of Harlow’s Mental Health Champion Cllr Ian Beckett, who is also Chair of the Council’s Health and Wellbeing Board.

Cllr Beckett says “It’s wellbeing that I’ve chosen to focus on this year. There’s still a huge amount to be done in terms of awareness raising, encouraging people to talk about their problems and seek support and advice from our health professionals. However, it’s as important to encourage people to recognise that looking after their physical health plays a huge part in maintaining positive mental health and the number of people who are increasingly doing that is worth celebrating”

To that end Cllr Beckett has organised and will be hosting an event called “Great Minds….A celebration of wellbeing” on Saturday 14th Oct at 7:30pm at Phoenix Live Lounge, Harlow Town Centre, CM201JR. It’s an evening of live music, songs, drama, video and chat. It will be a Pay What You Can evening with all proceeds going to Mind in West Essex. To reserve a ticket please email: [email protected]
