Leigh on Sea CC 1st XI 125-4 v Harlow CC 1st XI 121 a.o

IN a rain delayed start Harlow CC lost their first league fixture of 2018 to continue poor form from last season. Put into bat in a reduced overs match of 36 overs, Harlow’s batting let them down. Started steady losing first wicket for 31 runs with Luke Monger going for 27 off just 26 balls bowled. Soon wickets were tumbling at a steady rate with Harlow on 51-4. Harlow were all out for just 121 runs in 32.2 overs.

Only other notable scores were Soulat Ali with top score of 32 and another not out for Jake Messenger at the tail for 17 with no support this time and 16 from Surath Bastola. Seven batsman failed to reach double figures something that needs to improve on.

In reply, Leigh on Sea scored 124 for loss of four wickets in just 17 overs. A fine knock of 77 from Dean Waller did the damage after Harlow had the score at 5-2 and then 44-4. Two wickets a piece for Callum Sykes and Nicky Baxter, who posted scores of 43-2 and 35-2 respectively.

Harlow CC 2nd XI and 4th XI matches succumbed to the weather whilst the 3rd XI possibly wished it had playing Upminster 3rd XI. Having lost the toss they were put into bat and were bowled out for just 87 runs.

Top scorer was Ken Aldred with 25. In reply Upminster chased down the target to finish on 88-2 from 26 overs.
