Harvey Centre celebrates One Great Day

Lifestyle / Thu 7th Jun 2018 at 09:58am

THE Harvey Centre in Harlow was thrilled to support Great Ormond Street Hospital again this year, with another ‘One Great Day’ event on 2nd June between 10am – 4pm. This year was extra special because the centre was able to work with a number of brands and tenants to put on some extra special attractions, which shoppers were encouraged to enjoy for a small charitable donation. In fact, all donations from Saturday have now been counted and an astonishing £2,345.60 was raised – all of which will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Paradise Wildlife Park kicked off their activities with a visit from a friendly baby dinosaur at 10am. The baby dinosaur is part of Paradise Wildlife Park’s newest and coolest attraction: World of Dinosaurs. The Park’s Safari Sam and his cute furry friends also arrived at 10.00am to meet shoppers. Plus customers had the chance to see a real life tenrec and rabbits from the Park up close on the day. This proved hugely popular and provided great talk-ability at the event.

Tottenham Hotspur raffled off a pennant which had been signed by the first team members of Spurs. Legends provided free mini manicures for customers to enjoy for a small charitable donation. The centre also created a giant jar full of lollipops – people just had to make a donation and guess how many lollipops were contained to win one £20 gift voucher to spend at a store of their choice – the winner chose to spend her £20 voucher at the Spurs Shop. There were also a number of costume characters on show from Play People to wow shoppers. The centre’s incredible security team also completed an eight hour bike ride from 9am – 5pm on Saturday to raise money. Plus one extra keen team member shaved his top knot off following a number of donations.

In addition, children were able to enjoy a ride on horse, ride on tiger and ride on dinosaur at the centre and they could meet Paradise Wildlife Park’s iconic lion character – a treat for any youngster. Shoppers were also able to enjoy face painting for a small charge and could complete craft workshops run by Phoenix Resourcing. A sweet cart was provided by Flirt PR so shoppers could pick up sweet treats to enjoy.

The Harvey Centre would like to take this opportunity to thank all its tenants and suppliers that donated to this incredible organisation. In particular, Harlow Mobility, who made a very sizeable donation.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “Thank you to all our tenants, shoppers and staff who were so generous on Saturday – enabling us to raise a great amount of money for this hugely important hospital. We were able to put on a really original and memorable event that our shoppers loved – while also raising valuable funds for a vitally important hospital! I am very proud of what we achieved and look forward to supporting this event once again next year.”
