HARLOW Town looking for a much-needed win on Saturday, found themselves in the field against visitors Oakfield Parkonians. Despite dismissing both openers cheaply 25 for 2, Old Parks made the Town attack struggle all afternoon. The visitor’s innings was built around a magnificent 113 from Ravi Bhadmidipati with solid contributions from Kiani (40), Kailey (36) & Aminali (30) finishing with 273.
The chase was always going to be a big ask for Town and lost Hafeez for 6 but Dan Baldwin looked like he had rediscovered his true form as he was joined by Suraj Chauhan. Before Baldwin was adjudged LBW for 20, Chauhan settled in for the afternoon playing some magnificent shots, unfortunately none of the out of form Town batsmen could stay with him as wickets tumbled. Chauhan finally finishing on 107 and a late flurrish from Ben Eversden for 26 as Town were all out in the 41st over for 206 losing by 67 runs.
Harlow Town Second XI slumped to a 5 wicket defeat to Ardleigh Green on Saturday. Batting first Town posted 216-9 off their 45 overs with plenty of batsmen getting in but failing to go on to get the big score required to post an imposing total. Jack Davies top scored with a well made 49. Ardleigh got off to a good start in reply due to some inconsistent bowling and some poor fielding and were always in control of the game, scoring the winning runs with 5 overs to spare.
The Third XI lost by 69 runs to Loughton. Chasing 239 with Nick Teale picking up 3 for 29, Town could only reach 170 from their 40 overs with Taylor Wood top scoring with 44 Not Out.
The Fourth XI capped off a difficult weekend losing by 9 wickets to Ilford Catholics. Town were 145 all out with John Rogan top scoring with 59 which was chased down inside 22 overs.
This weekend’s fixtures:
Leigh-on-Sea v 1st XI
2nd XI v Stanford Le Hope
Fives & Heronians v 3rd XI
4th XI v Tye Green
