THE WORK of a Harlow business man has ensured that key financial investment has been secured at a school in Bangladesh.
Many will know Jamal Uddin Mokoddus from the chain of Indian restaurants and other businesses in Harlow. Since coming to Harlow in the seventies, he has not only put Indian cuisine on the map but also been lauded for his work in charity and education.
Last week, members of the Bangladeshi community went to one of his restaurants (The Garden of India) to congratulate him regarding the news that the secondary school had received vital funding.
Mr Mokoddus said: “Thanks to Allah, all the hard work for the last 20 years has come to fruition. My secondary school in my village of birth Mondol Pur, Chattak has been granted an MPO. The whole school has achieved the MPO. I have fully funded this project from day one .
“I originally started the school to educate the under privileged and especially the girls to give them an equal opportunity. I am so proud that in the 20 years I have helped with the social mobility in the area. And inshallah we can continue to do so.
I would like to thank the Bangladesh government for supporting me by granting me the MPO. I would like to thank The continued hard work and support of our great honourable MP of Chattak Muhibur Rahman Manik. I would like to thank the head teacher and his team for providing the level of education that they have been. The continued support of my family. The people of my village.
Thank you to everyone once again for understanding and supporting my vision”
