Severe weather provision for rough sleepers
HARLOW Council is working with St. Paul’s Church to provide night shelter for rough sleepers from tonight (8 November 2019).
The provision will be reviewed on Monday (11 November) and local weather conditions will continue to be monitored throughout the winter period. Further shelter will be provided by the council and the church when severe weather is forecast. This is part of measures in place to support rough sleepers.
Streets2Homes and the council’s community safety team are aware of the shelter and can refer people to the council’s housing team for support.
Residents concerned about anyone sleeping rough in Harlow can connect them to local help and support 24 hours a day via
This story illustrates why we need a Labour government. The Labour Party is committed to using empty properties to house rough sleepers, to introducing rent controls in the private sector, and to building 100,000 new Council homes every year for five years. These are the kind of policies we had in the 1940s and 1950s, when this country was a lot poorer, and we can have them again.
