Editorial: A plea following comments about Church Langley and Newhall stories

LAST weekend we reported that a woman was taken to hospital after suffering a head injury following an incident in Newhall.
A number of people made disparaging comments about Newhall and Church Langley.
None of these people appeared to show any concerns regarding the welfare of the women.
They seemed to take the opportunity to have a pop at those that live in Church Langley and Newhall.
Now we appreciate there is banter about Langley Village etc that goes back to the eighties. Even at Christmas there was a banner on the CL roundabout saying “Happy Christmas from the village”
Yes, we know there are a few modern day Constance Bouquets out there in Church Langley but hey ho, one person’s social climber is another woman with aspiration.
But there is a line and if your first response to a report of an injured woman is a Beavis and Butthead type response of ‘yeah but Langley Village…huh huh” then you may simply have the wrong newspaper.
We want everyone to feel welcome at YourHarlow and that very much includes the good people of Church Langley and Newhall. Very soon, there will be more new communities and they will be welcome as well.
We don’t want organisations from Church Langley and Newhall to be reluctant to send new items to us for fear of negative comments.
We are sure people were just engaging in light hearted comments but in future they will just be deleted.
How can the "banter" go back to the eighties when Church Langley wasn't built until the nineties? Now I'm sure folks are concerned about the woman's wellbeing but for so long Church Langley has been trying to disassociate itself from being a part of Harlow namely by saying how much cleaner and crime free it is so when the claims come back at them then they deserve it. Church Langley and Newhall are most definitely a part of Harlow no matter what and the people of these areas need to get over it. If you don't want to be part of Harlow then go somewhere that isn't Harlow.
Best you give us boxes to tick if we cannot comment.
Jokes about church Langley are wearing thin especially the epping
We have lived in Kingsdon Lane, off Potter Street, for longer than Church Langley was built. When we first moved here our postcode told us Old Harlow, now it is Newhall - how?
Danny. You say Church Langley “ has been trying to disassociate itself from being a part of Harlow ” Church Langley is collection of properties, it can’t do or say anything. Individuals live in those properties, individuals with different opinions and ideas, there isn’t a collective Church Langley voice, any more than the people where you live all speak with one voice.
