Cricket: Three Harlow players top charts

Cricket / Sun 19th Sep 2021 at 09:50am

THREE of Harlow’s players have ended the 2021 season top in their respective divisions as leading run scorer or wicket taker.

In First XI Division 3, Ben Yeats topped the runs charts with 840 runs at an average of 56.00 a distance ahead of Phil Coleman (Bentley CC) in second who made 664. Ben also ended the season as the second highest run scorer throughout all levels of the Hamro Foundation Essex Senior League, only trailing Jack Sterland of 1st XI Premier Champions Chelmsford CC.

Amir Farooq from our 2nd XI league winning side was the leading wicket taker in Second XI Division 2 taking 35 wickets. Amir has shot up into second place in our all time (since record keeping began) club records chasing hard on the heels of Sunni.

Third XI skipper Rizwan Qayyum not only led his side to a terrific 3rd place in 3rd XI Premier division but he also was the divisions leading run scorer with 596 runs. Riz was also well ahead of his nearest challenger for that honour, William Rogers of Woodford Wells CC making 510)

Also worthy of mentions in despatches are the following who all made it into their divisions top 10 performers.

Sarfaraz Ahmed was the 2nd highest wicket taker in First XI Division 3 behind Hussain Kazmi (Woodford Green CC). Sarfaraz took 44 league wickets and ended the season as the fourth highest wicket taker across the entire league at all levels.

Syed Hassan was the 8th highest run scorer also in First XI Division 3 with 524 runs.

Waheed Azam was the 5th highest wicket taker in Second XI Division 2 with 25 wickets. Matt Hart (19) wickets finished just outside the top 10 in 15th place.

In the same division Atif Mustehsen was the 11th highest run scorer with Asad Baig 13th highest. Both lads also league champions to boot along with Waheed and Matt.

In the 3rd XI Premier Division, Arshad Muhammed was 10th highest run scorer with 342 runs.

The Fourth XI had a super season. Captain Jack (Sykes) was 2nd highest run scorer in Third XI Division 2 with 462 (despite batting as low as 9 on occasions). Bowlers Ronnie Fuller (21 wickets) was 6th highest wicket taker and Libby Riddell (19 wickets) ended 8th highest wicket taker in that division.

Also congratulations to Thomas Smith-Hughes who is a highly consistent performer across a number of sides. Thomas took his 100th league wicket for the club towards the close of the season.

Many congratulations to all – everyone made major contributions to the success achieved across the sides this season.
