THE NUMBER of patients with Covid-19 in Princess Alexandra Hospital has risen very sharply.

Latest data provided on July 20th show that there were 100 patients in hospital.

The figure is fluctuating quite a lot. YH understands that no-one is on a ventilator.

Figures for Harlow suggest there are 299 people with Covid but many believe that the figure is far far higher than that.

It would seem that the “Living with Covid” approach is being undertaken in the town with many people continuing to turn up to work, despite having Covid.

SINCE March 2020, we have published over 2,500 stories relating to Covid-19.

At this point, we are just publishing our statistical return as the need arises.

It is a difficult balancing act. On the one hand, people are just getting on with their lives. On the other hand, we are all aware that it has not gone away in Harlow. Far from it. Everyone seems to know someone who has Covid just now. Many are ploughing on, continuing to go into work because, they need to work and earn a living.

Many of our statistical resources have either stopped given results or only give sporadic feedback.

Therefore, when we see, what we consider, an important group of statics or trends, we will publish.

Deaths

The relevant page on the NHS website has shut down.

By the middle of June, the number of deaths at PAH stood at 713.

However, we understand that the exact figure for Harlow is 246.

We have to bear in mind that Harlow only counts for 40% of patients at PAH.

Jan 1st-31st 2022: 22 deaths

For the record, Covid-19 is the underlying cause of death in around 92% of deaths where it was mentioned in the death certificate.

There are a reported 33-patients in the hospital. That figure has been between five and 26 for months in late 2021. It jumped to 76 and steadily went down to 15 in January 2022. it has fluctuated between 19 and 55 up to the end of March. It is now at 50
