Athletics: Harlow athletes impress in Aquathlon

HARLOW Running and Tri Club’s triathletes were in action at the Bridge Midweek Aquathlon (650m swim, 5.8k run) at Dartford last week. Competitors can compete individually or in relay teams of two, where one person does the swim and the other the run. Simon Morgans and Andy Terrell finished in 4th place out of 33 finishers and 1st Relay Team in 28.46.
Second relay team was Gail Nicholls and Michelle Sheridan in 22nd place in 34.15, 3rd relay team was Alan Wellbelove and Alan Cootes in 29th place in 38.57, Emma Luck and Sarah 30th in 40.21 and Lisa Brett and Jane Evans 31st in 42.51. Ryan Smith was Harlow’s 1st individual finisher in 5th place in an excellent 28.56. He was followed by Alan Knightly in 9th place in 29.46, Jon Waight 17th in 31.59, Terri Wiley 19th in 33.20, Darren Tiley 25th in 34.44, Alison Beeton 26th in 34.48 and Keith Streeter 27th in 37.13.
Meanwhile, at Club La Santa, Lanzarote, Vicky Steadman completed a 5k race on Saturday, finishing as 2nd Lady in 24.4. Then on Tuesday Vicky completed a half marathon, again finishing as 2nd Lady in 1.52.01.
At the 5k On The Rides race at Chingford Martyn Coulter finished in 4th place in an excellent PB time of 18.39, Louise Cootes was 63rd in 26.42, Debbie Pomphret 71st in 27.54 and Alan Godbold 75th in 29.41.
There were parkrun PBs for Claire Morris at Littlehampton Prom parkrun, finishing in 92nd place out of 211 finishers in 26.48 and Claire Carter at Witney parkrun, finishing in 133rd place out of 203 finishers in 29.14.
