Elderly man suffers serious injuries after fire at care home in Harlow

Update: Statement from Excelcare Limited: Owners of Ashlyns Care Home
The incident involved one resident whilst they were smoking outside of the care home. We wish to give our full assurances that the company’s emergency procedures were followed by our team members, who are working with the fire service and police.
Whilst the resident involved was taken to hospital, everyone else who lives at Ashlyn Care Home was, as always, kept safe and well cared for.
Update: Essex Police has informed us that this relates to a fire where an elderly man received serious injuries.
Police officers have been taking statements from those at the scene.
Statement from Fire Service:
“We were called to Vicarage Wood, Harlow today at 10.38am and a crew from Harlow attended.
“A man had suffered burns and crews assisted paramedics”.

A NUMBER of police units have attended at a care home in Harlow.
At least four cars attended at the Ashlyns Care Home on Minchen Road near The Stow at just before 1pm on Monday afternoon.
YH has contacted Essex Police press office as well as the owners of Ashlyns, Excelcare for a statement.
