Holy Cross take Years 3/4 Boccia title
THE rearranged Boccia event was a great success. With a staggering 27 teams arriving at the Mark Hall Sports Centre, the organization was always going to be very important. SGO David Stacey and his staff ensured that everything was set prior to the team’s arrival, with 54 coloured coded chairs, well-prepared Sports Leaders, a busy schedule and coloured cones labels to denote the nine pitches.
Once underway, the children really enjoyed themselves and made progress in communication and teamwork. Teams were spilt into nine groups of three, each being lead by a Sports Leader from Church Langley Primary School.
Having played everyone in their group, the teams were re-pooled twice more throughout the morning, playing those of a similar ranking/standard. Eventually, the finals group consisted of Tanys Dell, Little Parndon and Holy Cross – with Holy Cross taking the title.
Twenty-seven teams attending were: Henry Moore x 7, Church Langley x 4, Little Parndon x 3, Freshwaters x 2, Tanys Dell x 2, Purford Green x 2, Potter Street x 2, Holy Cross x 2, Roydon x 2 and Harlowbury.

DESPITE a smaller number of teams, the afternoon Boccia was a little more chaotic than the morning event! Unfortunately with 2 teams (one school) not turning up the organized scheduled had to be hastily re-adjusted as several teams waited around for the no-showers. Once we were able to ascertain the exact number of teams, the schedule was re-organised. Thanks to the school staff and the Sports Leaders from Church Langley Primary School, the event ran smoothly towards the end; the children producing moments of real quality as they began to use tactics to ensure their balls were closer to the Jack.
The final group saw Freshwaters narrowly pipped into third place on count back from Little Parndon, who took the runners-up position. The overall winners were Henry Moore 6, who secured victory with 2 wins in the final group.
19 Teams attending were: Henry Moore x 8, Church Langley x 4, Little Parndon x 3, Freshwaters x 2, Roydon and Hatfield Heath.
