WEST Essex and East Hertfordshire charity, St Clare Hospice, will be taking part in the national ‘Big Help Out’ festival of volunteering, to mark The King’s Coronation on the final day of the long weekend, Monday 8th May.

King Charles III’s Coronation will take place on Saturday 6th May, with the ‘Big Help Out’ aiming to bring communities together and create a lasting legacy from the Coronation Weekend. St Clare Hospice is one of thousands of organisations who have signed up to offer the chance for the local community to try volunteering for themselves – as a way to mark The King’s Coronation.

The Hospice charity has two volunteering opportunities available to mark the event. One offers the chance for people to help ‘wash and brush up’ the Hospice – with a painting and decorating day on 29th April to help get the Hospice ‘Coronation ready’ in the lead up to the weekend. There is also the chance to try out volunteering sessions in one of the Hospice’s nine charity shops, which will be open for business across the Bank Holiday weekend, on Saturday 6th, Sunday 7th and Monday 8th May.

Commenting on the ‘Big Help Out’ Coronation volunteering, Stacey Towler, St Clare Hospice’s Volunteer Development Manager, said: “I can’t think of a better way to mark the King’s Coronation than to give back to your local community as a volunteer. So many of our supporters say that they get so much out of volunteering – and it is proven to boost your happiness, sense of wellbeing and reduce stress. In a tribute to King Charles’ public service, we want to join in the event and offer people the chance to lend a hand. I hope it inspires new volunteers, and highlights the positive difference volunteering has on communities up and down the country.”

Stacey continued: “St Clare Hospice will be offering a range of volunteering opportunities for local people to take up over the weekend, and in the run up to the Coronation. The roles aim to give local people a taste of what volunteering is like, and the chance to make a difference to their community. Just get in touch to find out how you can take part, and the team will find a role to suit your skills and interests!”
