LAST month, Graham Ellis Associates, a practice of Chartered Surveyors based in Harlow, hosted their inaugural Golf Day in aid of West Essex and East Herts charity, St Clare Hospice.

In its first year, the Graham Ellis Golf Day raised a total of more than £11,000 in vital funding for St Clare Hospice. That’s enough to fund more than 11 weeks of night sitting home visits by a Hospice at Home nursing assistant. Having a night sitter to stay with a patient overnight can be an absolute lifeline for people with a life-limiting condition, and their family, who are often caring for them round the clock. It means their family can get a good night’s sleep, knowing their loved one is being cared for.

Hosted at the Canons Brook Golf Club, the event saw 72 golfers and a further 20 lunch guests turn up in support of the Hastingwood-based hospice. On the day, teams enjoyed a pleasant day of golf in the sunshine, followed by lunch, a raffle and auction with fantastic prizes.

Our target was to raise £8K ,which is the daily cost of running the Hospice and with the help of all those who attended the event – we smashed it!”
