A HARLOW teenager has been charged in connection with a distraction burglary in Harlow.
It follows an incident in Hookfield on June 29th where it was reported someone knocked on an address there.
They told the person living at the address, a woman in her 90s, they wanted to see their garden and they could get flowers for them.
As the occupant went into the garden the suspect went into the address and then back out into the garden before then leaving.
It was only later when the victim realised her purse had been stolen.
A 17 year-old boy from Harlow was arrested on Thursday (6 July).
He has been now charged with burglary and fraud by false representation.
He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 11 July.

Disgusting. There's no rehabilitation for people like that.
Some people might say find out what personal problems/family life situations that may have caused this 17yr old lad to do this to a frail 90yr old, 😵💫😵💫😳😳 FLOG THE BASXXXD I SAY
Luke Burton, if the little b******s were brought up properly there would be no need for rehabilitation in the first place. I always wonder at the 'parents' response when finding out what their offspring has done. Do they even think or care about what this has done to an extremely elderly lady.
I am in total agreement with allof these comments and i would be so shocked if anyone said think about what problems this lad may have. All i can think about is this poor innocent 90 year old lady. I hope the parents sort him out.
name and shame him
Unfortunately Lez, the courts protect the identity of anyone under 18, unless the Judge agrees to name them for the public safety,
