Yourworstnightmare bit judgmental aren’t you, how do you know someone didn’t fall ill at the wheel while driving . Maybe think of the people that were in the accident. Hope everyone is ok that was involved in the collision

Everyone drives way over the speed limit (30miles ) on the stretch from the crossing at Tesco to the top of the street . Some don’t even stop at the zebra beacon crossing when they see a Pedestrian, One guy with accelerated Surly doing over 60 , should have speed traps

A 20 mph speed limit would help: especially because there's the school. Also barriers acroos the green wedge at this point like those the Council have been installing across paths to stop motorbikes and scooters would be good. There's been frequent near misses and reported rta at this crossing and sadly for everyone concerned this was an accident waiting to happen. BRAKE the road safety charity can help get the message into schools and to the public. Certainly time for the district and County Councils to act.

Rather than expecting the car to stop and moaning that they are going to fast it might be worth stopping (riding) yourself and waiting until you’re happy it’s safe to do so. #dontplaychickenwithacar #dontblamethedriverintheroad

In reply to nick I was there and the boy was waiting to cross the road a car stopped for him so it was safe to cross but the other car was driving at a stupid speed and didn’t stop

Currently, electric scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. It is effectively illegal to use them on public roads, on pavements, in cycle lanes and in pedestrian-only areas. Quoting speed limits is ridiculous when a vehicle involved wasn’t legally permitted on a public road. I know where my sympathy falls in this case.

Who actually cares who’s at fault right now? A 15 year old boy, is fighting for his life in hospital. Everyone is too quick to judge now days!! Nothing is more important right now than the boys recovery and the support of the driver. End of!

The police will sort out the who, why, what and when so let's leave that bit alone. If you had seen the mum and dads extreme distress when they came down and the drivers upset, then you can't help but feel compassion for all concerned. The emergency services turned up in good numbers and all played a part in trying to to get this young man out of the situation and onto further care that we hope willbring things to a better conclusion. Fingers crossed for everyone concerned and thank you all of the emergency services

Some of the comments on here, wow !!! If it's true that the driver was speeding, then that is illegal. But apparently according to some on here if the driver was speeding, speed is irrelevant because the lad was on an illegal e-scooter. Idiocy ! Hoping that all involved make a full recovery

Steve you quote the Law but the Law takes so long to update!? Scooters are here to stay they have so many benefits clean for the environment etc…. If the lad had been on a push bike you wouldn’t be saying that stuff so shut up! Hope the boy makes a speedy recovery.

in response to Nick, putting hashtags on a comment whilst a 15 year old boy is in hospital having almost been killed, and you don’t even know the full story. only assuming. what an awful human being you are.

in response to jack. the mode of transport it irrelevant here, on no way shape of form were they asking to be hit by a car. As sandra stated above, they waited at the crossing untill it was safe to cross, therefore, not their fault AT ALL. The fact this is even being questioned is absolutely beyond me. awful.
