Athletics: Harlow women go the distance on New Year’s Eve

HARLOW Running and Tri Club members saw out the year at the New Year’s Eve Flitch Way Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k event.

Two of the club’s distance ladies completed the Marathon race, Kerry Mavris finished in 17th place out of 40 finishers and 2nd Female Vet 50 in 4hrs 14min 22sec and Laura Prime was 26th in 4.52.38.    
In the Half Marathon Michelle Sheridan finished in 30th place out of 88 finishers in 2.10.19, Gail Nicholls was 32nd and 1st Female Vet 50 in 2.13.25, Emma Luck 70th in 2.35.48 and Selina Morgan 71st in 2.35.51. 

Louise Kedge ran well to finish in 9th place and 1st Female in the 10k race in a superb 1.00.26.

Meanwhile, at the New Year’s Eve Ely 10k Rob Lowe finished in 21st place out of 510 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in an excellent 36.45.

At the St Albans New Year’s Eve 10K Sean Flynn finished in 142nd place out of 535 finishers and 1st Vet 60 in 51.01.

On Saturday morning some members opted for a longer distance rather than the shorter 5k parkrun. At the Buntingford 10 mile race Lucy Barnes finished in 60th place out of 487 finishers and 3rd Female in an excellent 1.04.05, Ryan Smith was 93rd in 1.08.54, Catherine Ridge 183rd in 1.16.42 and Linda Helm-Manley 261st in 1.23.16. 

On New Year’s Day at Harlow parkrun Ellie Wiseman finished in 36th place out of 200 finishers in a PB time of 25.08.
