The Harvey Centre shows its generosity for Random Acts of Kindness Day

Entertainment / Thu 7th Mar 2024 at 10:22am

ON Saturday 17th February, the whole on-site centre management team got involved in delighting and surprising shoppers with a whole range of FREE goodies throughout the day.

These goodies were all kindly donated by a large range of tenants from The Harvey Centre. There was a huge number of generous donations meaning the centre team could give away everything from fresh flowers and chocolates to books and gift vouchers to visitors. All gifts went down a treat, with many expressing their joy and excitement for this random act of kindness.

One of the larger contributions included a scooter from Lifestyle Mobility, which The Harvey Centre kindly donated to Great Parndon Community Association (GPCA) and Harlow Stroke Support Group. Whilst the GPCA works to promote the well-being of the inhabitants of Great Parndon and the surrounding neighbourhood, the Harlow Stroke Support Group offer non-medical Rehabilitation, support, information and advice for Stroke Survivors and their Carers/Family.

To expand on the theme of Kindness, the centre also hosted a kindness rocks workshop for children to get involved in . Families were able to join in with painting positive messages onto rocks and then hiding them around the centre for others to find and enjoy. The aim of the workshop was to inspire and encourage young people to be kind to others and themselves through positive affirmations and words of kindness. Lots of people took part in helping to sprinkle positivity around the centre.

The Harvey Centre hope that this initiative inspired the community to continue spreading kindness wherever they can, recognising that even the smallest gestures can profoundly impact someone else’s day!

Bryan Young, Centre Manager, The Harvey Centre says, “We are really proud to share that our Random Acts of Kindness Day turned out bigger and better than ever before. It’s great to see so many of our tenants getting involved with this initiative, and the reaction from visitors was amazing to see. We really wanted to show our customers our appreciation, and we have definitely succeeded with our mission of spreading kindness!’’

What a really lovely thing to do and to put a smile on people's faces and make something nice happen on their life. I always try to do a little kind thing per day and if more people did this what a nice place the world would be.
