ST Clare Hospice 10K race returned for its 30th year on the 7th of April and was a huge success. The sold-out event raised over £34,000 for the Hospice which could pay for the cost of running the community palliative care team for 11 days. The team made up of doctors, specialist nurses, and healthcare assistants care for people in their own homes, helping avoid distressing and unnecessary hospital admissions and keeping them close to their loved ones.

465 racers came along to the 10K road race which set off from the Hospice around the Hastingwood countryside. Fundraisers hit the road, each step taken raising vital funds for St Clare Hospice.

The road event is accessible for both runners and wheelchair racers. Superb times were seen across the board with the fastest wheelchair racer Andrew Bracey from Harlow AC completing the course in 31:48. The fastest runner was Adam Beaumont part of Bishop’s Stortford Running Club who finished in a speedy 33 minutes and 16 seconds.

As tired racers returned to the Hospice they were welcomed with massages on offer from SV Sports Therapy.

Event organiser, Jo Hotten, Community Relationship Fundraiser said, ‘We want to say a huge thank you to all our racers, we are so grateful for the amazing support. We are thrilled to announce that over £34,000 was raised from the event.

We want to thank all our attendees, supporters, and volunteers. Together they have made a huge difference to St Clare Hospice. Fundraisers can be proud of their achievements knowing that they raised vital funds which will continue to allow the Hospice to make a difference to patients and their families in our community.’
