Harlow man accused of assaulting woman as part of four year reign of terror

A HARLOW man is set to stand trial accused of conducting a four year reign of terror against a woman.

Troy Bricknell, aged 48, of Little Pynchons, Harlow has been charged with the following.

Assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. September 30th, 2023 and November 1st, 2023, you assaulted a woman, thereby occasioning her, actual bodily harm

Assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. On December 24th, 2023, assaulted a woman , thereby occasioning  her, actual bodily harm

On May 5th, 2024, assaulted a woman by beating her.

Engage in controlling / coercive behaviour in an intimate / family relationship.

Between March 1st, 2020 and May 6th, 2024 at Harlow repeatedly or continuously engaged in behaviour which was controlling or coercive, namely assaulted the victim on more than two occasions, told the victim you didn’t want her going places or doing certain things, belittle the victim in front of people, stopped the victim going out and caused damage to her property, towards a woman, to whom, at the time of the behaviour, you were personally connected in that partners, that behaviour having a serious effect on  her  and you knew or ought to have known that the behaviour would have a serious effect on  her.

Bricknell has been remanded in custody. His next court appearance is on June 5th at Chelmsford Crown Court.

No plea has been indicated at this point.
