A LARGE number of police units swooped on a car near to Staple Tye shopping centre on Saturday afternoon.

Armed police and a number of officers from both the Metropolitan Police and Essex Police attended at the scene.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “Officers were alerted at around 1pm on Saturday 31 August to a vehicle linked to someone wanted in connection with firearms offences in London.

“The vehicle was tracked to the Staple Tye area where it was stopped and one person was arrested”.
