PRINCESS Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is continuing to report that it is operating at a “reduced capacity” as it tries to embed a new electronic patient record system.

The system called Alex Health went live last weekend (Nov 2nd-3rd).
The new system was described by PAH as follows:
“This will be an integrated digital record of patient care, drawing together information from all health systems that currently store patient information/data. It will bring huge benefits for patients, however, it is a major undertaking for us, with a lot of behind the scenes work involved”
Last week, they issued a statement regarding possibility of “reduced capacity“.
“To make sure we still provide patients with safe, high quality care during and after we go-live, we need to operate at a reduced capacity for a few weeks whilst our staff get used to the new ways of working.
Therefore, we’re rescheduling some less-urgent patient appointments and working closely with other services in the community to release pressure on the hospital.
Patients who currently have an appointment and have not been contacted to reschedule should attend their appointment as planned.
“Please be assured that patients will continue to be able to access urgent and emergency care, maternity care, and critical services for our inpatients as usual.
“Patients attending the hospital over go-live may also experience some delays whilst we introduce our new system and we thank them in advance for their patience and understanding”.
On Sunday afternoon, they have repeated the warning.
