Mark Hall By-election: Reform UK candidate will put “the people of Harlow at top of the agenda”
News / Fri 4th Apr 2025 at 08:08am
REFORM UK will contest the Mark Hall Ward by-election on 1 May 2025. The Party is pleased to announce Mr Paul Jago as its candidate.
Paul is a Harlow resident of many years and dedicated to Mark Hall being a great place to live for its residents.

Paul’s career in logistics spans driving HGVs to running his own logistics and safety training company. Paul says: “I understand the value of hard work and having to make every penny count. I am also concerned that huge current and future investments, by the Council on the town centre’s redevelopment, do not come at the expense of our neighbourhoods such as Mark Hall. The council appears to be busily providing for new residents; however, I want to ensure that long-term residents are not short-changed in the process. I also want to work for a safe neighbourhood, putting locals first for housing and attracting job opportunities.”
Reform UK believe that Essex County Council and Harlow District Council’s Conservative and Labour councillors colluded to support the Labour Government’s drive to cancel the county elections this May.
Reform UK believe that the Mark Hall by-election stands as a very important voter opportunity to have a voice; a voice which may then be taken away by our current batch of politicians. Under present plans, Harlow District Council itself will cease to exist and will be absorbed into a larger unitary authority.
Paul said: “Voters have been let down again and again by both the Conservative and the Labour party failing to meet their manifesto promises and taking power for granted. Voter apathy has resulted because voters feel that neither of the two main parties deserves their vote. However, Reform UK Party represents a serious choice for voters, polling nationally at around 26% recently, leading both the Labour and the Tories! I believe that, given Harlow Council’s almost equal split of councillors between Labour and the Tories, there is a great opportunity for a fresh voice of Harlow’s first Reform UK Councillor! I appeal not just to regular voters but to those who the main parties have turned off. I represent not just a real choice, but someone who will work for real change from the tired, old parties. I am busy speaking to Mark Hall residents now and if successful, I look forward to holding regular surgeries, taking on resident’s concerns and speaking up for them energetically in the council chamber.”
Paul looks forward to meeting as many Mark Hall residents as possible in the coming weeks, hearing their concerns and engaging with them on Reform UK’s message of hope, local renewal and putting our local people and their priorities at the top of the agenda.
"Paul is a Harlow resident of many years" - How many years is many?? - I guess start off as you mean to go on!!!
Best of Luck Paul, hopefully people will be bright enough to differentiate between Local and National politics, Also don't forget The Tories and Labour have taken away people's right to vote in local elections so this is a great chance to show what we think.
Good luck and for the same reasons as Peter above
Reform - formerly UKIP, formerly the Brexit party. Responsible for higher prices due to Brexit red tape they told us wouldn't exist. Responsible for the loss of valuable NHS staff, for crops going unpicked, for medicine shortages and food shortages. Responsible for the loss of rights and privileges enjoyed by you, your children and their children. Now gone for nothing, absolutely nothing, in return. Reform lost us £40 billion a year in trade taxes, 4% off GDP, and caused taxes to rise to make up the loss. Your taxes, your higher prices in the shops. Reform made us the target of international ridicule. Reform made us isolated and weaker. Reform - now as then still just a Farage ego act. They have no believable or achievable policies, only easy soundbites they hope will fool people. Just as they did before. In 2016 they lied to get you to vote against your own interests and they're still doing it. They lied and made you poorer. Let's vote them in to finish the job, there's still more damage they can do.
Interesting article, but where is the information on the work reform have been carrying out over the past year or so for Harlow residents? Or information on the community events reform have supported? Where is the information about the case work reform have taken on supporting local residents? Where have Harlow reform been since the last election? What do they actually do for Harlow & it's residents?
john davies are the party that are in at the moment not doing all of the above and more
Don't fall for reform, it's a trap. This is not about parties, this is and will always be about policies. Reform policies pretend to appeal to the masses as they need our votes but will always represent the interests of the business class and the rich. Don't fall for this.
Can't do any worse than labour, the worse Government to date. They have attacked the old and the vulnerable . I for one will be voting for reform in the next elections. Bring it on !
Dont be fooled by reform a bunch of racists always will be what ever name they go by.they have already cost us billions of pounds with a failed brexit.their party is full of convicts . Wife beaters and general wrongons.. we have seen what happens when you elect clowns. The boris experiment failed miserably
Mark Hall , safe place to live!!!. I would not walk through the Stow of a night . And Peter I hope you can prove what you are stating about the people who make up the Reform Party. Or you could be in a lot of trouble.
Sweeping derogatory statement Peter care to clarify those name callings or is it just your own personal thoughts,
Peter google Labour25+51 to see to see the sort of people Labour attracts
The attraction of Reform is the easy, simplistic answers they offer for complex questions. Peopleistake these dangerous answers for policy. Of course Reform have no costed policies, just those knee-jerk unworkable answers. Mai stream parties need to answer this populism with patience, not drift to the right.
Me my wife & 2 adult kids will be voting for you best of luck we need change
Why do lefties have to abuse and call people who vote reform ,wife beaters rascists etc ,the simple answer is they have nothing credible to fight with ,I know the reform candidate and know he's a good man,not a wife beater or a rascist just a man who cares
