A FORMER Harlow athlete is set to make her senior international debut for Team GB next month.

Bebe Jackson, 19, has been named in the squad for the World Para Athletics Championships, which takes place in Delhi from September 26 to October 5.

The teenager, will line up in both the T44 100m and 200m in the Indian capital. Bebe is ranked third and fourth in the world respectively for the events.

Bebe made history in August 2023 when she became Team England’s first Commonwealth Youth Games medallist by claiming silver in the F42-44/F61-64 discus in Trinidad & Tobago.

Jackson is also the European record holder for the T44 long jump and has taken part in several Diamond League meetings, most recently competing in the 100m at the London Stadium in July against athletes from all different categories.

Other experiences include taking part in an inclusive sports programme in South Africa while she is currently part of British Athletics’ Paralympic Futures Programme. Bebe is set to step up to the Paralympic World Class Programme this autumn, meaning she will get more money.

Bebe currently juggles training and competing with working long shifts in the NHS.

Jackson, who works with coach Alan James at Woodford Green Essex Ladies, has lived with foster carers Mick and Pauline Davis since she was 10.

Mick first went to see her in a school race at Mark Hall Academy and realised she had a special talent as he was head and shoulders above the “able bodied” athletes

She has since gone on to make a real name for herself and is set to be one to watch at the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angles. She was invited to attend the 2024 Games in Paris by Team GB in order to soak up the atmosphere and get a feel for the event.
