Harlow resident charged with drug driving and knife possession

A HARLOW resident has been charged with drug driving and a number of public order offences.

Joshua Poulter Patel, aged 24, of Moore House, Edinburgh Gate, Harlow appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court charged with the following.

On February 7th, 2026 in Harlow, had with you, without good reason or lawful authority, in a public place, Miles Close, Harlow, an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely large kitchen knife.

On February 7th, 2026, in Harlow, had in your possession a quantity of cannabis a controlled drug of class B with intent to supply it to unknown persons in contravention of section 4(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

On September 30th, 2025, at Waltham Abbey, drove a Volkswagen Golf on Crooked Mile, when the proportion of a controlled drug, namely Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, in your blood namely 3.1, exceeded the specified limit.

Patel has been remanded on conditional bail.

One of the conditions being not to enter Harlow.

His next appearance is scheduled for March 23rd at Chelmsford Magistrates court.

He has pleaded guilty to charges 1 and 2. Not guilty to charge 3.
