Business / Sat 14th Mar 2026 at 06:32am

A REPORT by the organisation handling the administration of Harlow Town Football has identified a potential buyer for the beleaguered football club.

A statement of administrators proposals was published by MHA Advisory Limited on Companies House on Thursday afternoon.

The 49-page document goes into details regarding the administrators proposals.

It states that a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) is currently in “advanced legal negotiation”.

It goes onto state that “completion under the current agreed terms would result in all creditors being paid in full”.

Later on the administrators reveal that there were 38 expressions of interest received. They then went on to receive eight offers.

They stated: “Following a detailed review of all offers received….one offer was identified as the most advantageous and capable of achieving the best available result for all stakeholders.

“At time of issuing report, the identity of preferred purchaser cannot be disclosed due to ongoing commercial, legal and regulatory processes. However, the offer has progressed and all parties are in process of agreeing the SPA.”

The Administrators found there were 17 employees of whom only one was full-time, the rest being zero hours. The club could not produce written contracts for any of the 17. The one full-time employee was only established by reference to salary records. Seven employees were let go either through resignation or redundancy. The way employees are treated by this club are a disgrace. At the very least the club should have had a record of the Written Statement of employment particulars. The principal points must be supplied on day one and wider terms within two months. It is therefore not surprising that in the past the club has had to deal with a Winding-Up petition by HMRC. The Administrators assumed control on January 9 and found only £153 on account at NatWest Bank, but significant withdrawals had been made the day before.
