534 runners, including wheelchair athletes, took part in St Clare Hospice’s 10k race on Sunday 12th April, making it another hugely successful year for the annual charity event.
A firm fixture in Essex running club calendars, the popular 10k continues to attract participants from across the county, all coming together to support local hospice care.
The runners set off from the Hastingwood-based hospice at 10.30am, tackling a route along roads through the Essex countryside.

The first person to cross the finish line was St Clare trustee, Nick Greenwood, in a time of 35 minutes and 1 second. He was closely followed by Stephen Bullough (35:52, of Bishop Stortford’s Running Club, and then Robert Lowe (36:54) of Harlow Running & Tri Club.
This year’s event raised more than £47,000, providing vital funds to help St Clare Hospice continue delivering specialist care and support to patients and their families in the local community.
Rosie Brewer, St Clare Events Relationship Fundraiser, said: ‘This year’s 10k run was a huge success, with 534 participants coming together to raise an incredible £47,000 – around £9,000 more than last year!
“This could help pay for the cost of running the whole Hospice at Home team for around 23 days, where healthcare assistants offer gentle personal care that helps people feel comfortable and dignified in their final weeks”.
