HARLOW Town enjoyed an excellent weekend in the Herts & Essex Border League as both the 1st and 2nd XIs recorded emphatic victories to continue building early-season momentum.

At Ash Tree Field, the 1st XI produced a complete performance to overwhelm Ardeley Walkern in Division Two. After being inserted into the field, Town’s bowlers operated with relentless discipline to dismiss the visitors for just 84.

Taylor Wood led the way with 4 for 21, while Sam Wilson’s superbly controlled spell of 2 for 7 laid the foundations for a dominant afternoon. Daniel Baldwin then capped a fine all-round display by following his three wickets with an unbeaten 41 in the chase. Thomas Garner added a blistering 41 not out from only 25 balls as the Townies surged to victory inside 11 overs.

The 2nd XI were even more ruthless in Division Three, brushing aside Broxbourne 5th XI by ten wickets. Simon Rowell starred with the ball, producing outstanding figures of 5 for 4 from five overs, including four maidens, as Broxbourne were bowled out for 61. Hansal Dave and Callum Fitzpatrick offered excellent support before James Williamson and Joe Spiers completed a rapid chase in under six overs without loss.

The 3rd XI were without a fixture this weekend, but across the club there was plenty to encourage as Town’s senior sides collected maximum points in convincing fashion.
