HARLOW Council’s planning committee gave approval for 154 more homes on Gilden Way.
The applicants already had what is called outline planning permission for 1100 homes. This bid was not for more homes but to get nearer that target.
Local resident, Norman Crossley as well as Old Harlow councillor, Joel Charles spoke against the proposal, detailing the problems that had already occurred due to the build got homes in the area.
Chair of the committee, cllr Phil Waite made reference to the fact that the council’s initial rejection of the planning bid a few years ago had landed with them with a hefty bill from the courts.
Film of the application can be seen below.
Told you so ! And, I do believe plans are still in the pipe-line for another tranche of development in the surrounding areas. Where is the HGV and weight restriction on vehicles, through Hobbs Cross Road to Gilden Way ? Yesterday, two 40 tonne articulated vehicles, travelling in opposite directions, met up in Churchgate Street, chaos, for far too long. What about the speed restrictions that were promised ? This council couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery.
